Traveling with Kids

The holidays are coming up and families may be doing more traveling in the car. Instead of occupying everyone with iPods, DVD’s or electronic games, try something that can make the time pass and be a way for everyone to relate to one another.  Games like taking turns singing, using the alphabet to call out something you see that starts with a particular letter can be fun and educational.  Try having everyone create a story where someone starts and then stops. The next person starts and adds their ideas and the story grows. And, my favorite trick to keep kids from asking ‘how much longer?’. I said ‘10 minutes’ no matter how far from the destination we were. They only asked a couple of times when they realized my answer was always the same!
