Parents Abandoning children

This article talks about how some parents in Nebraska drop off their kids in a hospital because they cannot or do not want to take care of them. Nebraska has a "safe haven" law that allows parents to leave children of any age at the hospital and request that they be taken care of. This article reported that a 34-year old father left nine children ages 1-17 and walked away. he said his wife had died the previous year and he just couldn’t take care of the children. I find this to be an awful law. It seems to make parents unaccountable for their children being able to just drop them off and have someone care for them.
