How to Tell Your Children a Grandparent is Dying

It’s never an easy thing to explain to your children. If they are of differing ages it can be even more of a challenge. It is important to let your children know what is going on, they will know if something is wrong. It’s ok to express your own grief while talking with them, they need to now it’s ok to express their sadness too. Encourage them to draw a picture or write a letter to their grandparent or bring them flowers, it will make them feel helpful and involved. A death in the family is never easy, but they need to understand that dying is a normal part of life.
